Mullein leaf or Verbascum thapsus, is an herb from the Scrophulariaceae family that has been used as natural medicine for thousands of years. This plant can grow to great heights, with nearly eight foot tall flower spikes and large, fuzzy leaves. After about two years of growth, its yellow blooms will open – but only for a few days. While generally considered a weed, Mullein can be mashed into an extract or the leaves can be brewed as a tea.

Mullein leaf is commonly used as an expectorant. Expectorants are substances that thin mucus to purge it from your system. This herb is used in respiratory support blends and may help to soothe a stubborn cough. Mullein contains antioxidants, vitamins and essential minerals making it a welcome addition to your health care regimen.

Joseph E. ★★★★★

I was skeptical about the tea bag quality since the plant itself can grow nearly eight feet tall, but these bags hold the leaf pieces well without spilling grit into my cup. The flavor is mild and earthy, and I’ve been sipping it every evening for congestion relief.

After a week of steeping these in my tea pot, the loose leaves expand beautifully and the brew is surprisingly smooth for an herb that strong. It’s become my go-to ritual on chilly evenings when I feel a tickle coming on, and the eight-foot plant heritage makes me trust the traditional use.

Stella O. ★★★★★

My chest congestion cleared up noticeably after just a few days of steeping these tea bags, and the mild, earthy taste is easy to drink even when I feel awful. The dried leaf pieces look whole and fresh, which gives me confidence in the quality.
