Lemon Balm is an herb closely related to peppermint. Unlike mint, it has a lovely lemony flavor and aroma. The latin name (Melissa officinalis) harkens back to ancient Greece, where the Lemon Balm plant attracted many honeybees. “Melissa” is the Greek word for honeybee. It has been traditionally used as a tea to aid in relaxation, due to its calming smell and taste, it also blends well with other soothing herbs like chamomile and peppermint..

Lemon balm is a good source of Vitamin C, Thiamine (Vitamin B1), polyphenols and other antioxidants. It also contains Eugenol, a natural compound commonly used by dentists for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects (www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/003042209290020Q). Eugenol is predominantly found in cloves, but is an added benefit to those who prefer the taste of Lemon Balm!

Matthew ★★★★★

The lemony aroma really comes through the moment you open the bag, and it steeps into a calming cup that tastes almost like a soft herbal tea with a citrus twist. I've been drinking a mug about an hour before bed and the relaxation effect is noticeable.

Emily ★★★★★

The second time I brewed this I noticed the lemony scent really does come through without any sharpness, and it’s a lot gentler than regular mint tea. I’ve been sipping it about an hour before bed and it’s become a calm little ritual.

Lily ★★★★★

I wasn't sure what to expect from a lemon-flavored herb, but the loose leaves have that soft, citrusy aroma of actual lemon zest, not candy. Steeping it feels like a little evening ritual, and it's been settling my mind before bed better than my usual chamomile.
