Anise or Pimpinella anisum, is a flowering plant closely related to carrots, celery and parsley. The plant produces small white fruits which we know as aniseed. Anise Seed has a very identifiable black licorice taste and is a common additive to baked goods, desserts and as a flavoring for alcohol. Anise isn’t just prized for its sweet flavor, there are many beneficial properties that these tiny seeds possess.

Aniseed is micronutrient dense and is a good source of iron. Anise also contains antimicrobial properties that help to prevent the growth of bacteria which can cause infection. Anethole, an active organic compound found in Anise, shows promise as a way to combat various strains of bacteria*. Anise is commonly used as an after dinner digestive beverage and many people enjoy the sweet, caffeine free flavor.

The licorice-like aroma hits you the moment you open the box, and steeping one bag for just five minutes gives a deep, calming cup that settles my stomach after dinner. Each tea bag holds the whole seeds, so the flavor lasts through two infusions, which is a nice bonus.

Those little white fruits that come from the plant are packed with flavor—the licorice-like sweetness comes through strong but smooth in the tea. I’ve been drinking a cup after dinner and my digestion feels genuinely easier, plus the scent alone is calming. This is exactly the kind of herbal support

The little white anise seeds in these tea bags have that unmistakable licorice bite, and the fact they're organic makes the evening cup feel even better. I've been brewing one after dinner to help with digestion, and it's become a calming ritual I actually look forward to.
